We’ve seen this before. What is your plan?
I’ve always been fascinated by Alex Tews’ www.milliondollarhomepage.com. I considered myself somewhat of an entrepreneur as well. I’ve tried inventing new products, buying/selling real estate, investing in the stock market, and countless other ways of making money. Nothing has worked up to this point. I love the simplicity and brilliance of this idea, so why not give it a try to improve on it / blatantly copy it?I am also trying to make a total of a million dollars selling 1,000,000 pixels for $1 each. The idea won’t stop there, as ‘owners’ of pixels will be able to Sell, Rent and Trade their pixel blocks. As great as the original Milliondollarhomepage.com is, I was sad to see that some of the ads were dead links. I want to see what will happen when the spaces and links are allowed to be continuously updated. Unlike Alex, I’m not a starving student, but I do have two young children and a wife and major job uncertainty concerning at my job at a pharmaceutical company. Uncertainty concerning my long term employment has propelled my search for ways to ‘do it my own way.’I am selling the 1,000,000 pixels in 100 pixel blocks as well. Each block is a square measuring 10 x 10 pixels. There are 10,000 individual blocks on the homepage for a total of 1 Million pixels. You can select the blocks by clicking and dragging on the homepage, clicking Buy and then filling out the required information. The Width and Height listed are in 100 pixel ‘blocks,’ so 6 blocks wide and 5 blocks high would really be 3000 pixels total for $3000. You can buy as little as one 100 pixel block for $100 or as many as you like (as long as space is still available.) Keep the “Our Transaction ID” safe after you checkout! Keep in mind that after you purchase a block of pixels, you can Sell, Rent of Trade those pixels at a later date if you desire. We will need the “Our Transaction ID” in order to identify you down the road if you want to make a transaction with your blocks.

I’m excited to see how the new homepage will evolve over the years. Some pixel block ‘owners’ might change their picture / link constantly. Some might rent their space Monthly or Yearly. Will people team up to try to form one giant symbol / picture? Will someone try to consolidate the whole page or a portion of it? Will people buy and sit on their pixels hoping to sell them later at a profit? We will have to see. The page will be up for at least 10 years, but hopefully it will be up (and changing) for a very long time!

Who are you?
My name is Gary Stein. I live in Chicago, IL. I work as an engineer at a pharmaceutical company in the area. My employment situation is a little tenuous at the moment due to changing plans at facility I work in. I am a hopeless tinkerer at home. I love taking things apart to figure out how they work. I constantly drive my very organized wife crazy with my endless deconstructions and demolitions. I have a lot of ideas I think would make the world a better place. I want to have the ability to see some of the ideas I have floating around in my head through to completion. I also would love to take more time to spend with my two young sons and wonderful wife. $1M would give me the time and funds I need to make these dreams a reality.

What will you do with the money?
I would go through with a bunch of my ideas! I would start with www.SteelBinders.com. Steel Binders was an idea I had that would solve a lot of problems experienced by people working in harsh environments with a lot of water that need a durable stainless steel metal binder.Another concept I had was a Dual Power Drill – a drill capable of being powered via battery or AC power. This one might never happen as Black & Decker owns all the patents. Maybe I could partner with Black & Decker, but I doubt they would take my help. I am a huge Black & Decker fan by the way, I have many of their power tools, so I’m not surprised they have the patent on this idea (nor am I too saddened.) I hope someday they make Dual Power(ed) tools!Another small idea I have is to get www.DocProtectors.com going. It is basically waterproof document protectors for paperwork stored in 3-ring binders. I guess it’s basically an extension of SteelBinders.com.

Building on the “Million This or That” idea, I also want to do something with www.MillionCharities.com and/or www.1MCharities.com to raise money for a good cause. I also had a concept for www.BurnAMillion.com where we would raise a million dollars and I would literally burn it (fake money) and give the actual money to a charity. I’d also like to do a million ‘tweets’ or million ‘likes’ type of webpage eventually.

I have an idea for www.DestroyMyAds.com, www.SkipTheseAds.com or www.SquashThisAd.com where people can take a fun approach to the old “Skip This Ad” annoyance. Maybe it would be a contest or a charity fundraiser.

I want to start a website community where people can go to find custom solutions for problems they find either at work or at home that they can’t seem to find the answer to. The website would be for those “Someone should make a blank to do this.” I was thinking www.SomeoneBuildThis.com or www.SomeoneBuildThat.com maybe. I’m sure there are thousands of people out there that have ideas for products, but haven’t been able to find them or find a way to make them (or have them made for them.)

I also have ideas for something I call a Stack Battery and Master Fastener, but I don’t want to get too detailed about those as I don’t want to get beaten to the punch on them (if I haven’t been already.)

And (of course!) I’d spend more time with my family!

How do I Sell / Rent / Trade Pixel Blocks?
Pixel block owners contact me at gary@themilliondollarhomepage.comto request a transaction. Please supply the original “Our Transaction ID” and include the following:

1. Type of transaction (Sale, Rental Trade)
2. X,Y Coordinates of the Block(s)
3. Contact name and e-mail address of the third party (if applicable)
4. New website link and pixel image
5. New mouseover image (if any)
6. Phone Number (Optional – incase there are any questions. Phone numbers will not be shared.)

NOTE: If you are requesting a Trade, also have the other owner contact me at gary@themilliondollarhomepage.com and provide their original “Our Transaction ID” and their relevant info. Please do not share your “Our Transaction ID” as that number will follow the original owner (unless the pixel block is sold.)
Each transaction will require a fee of $20. Fees are subject to change without prior notice.

Can I Update my Pixel Image or Website Link?
Sure! You can update them as often as you would like. Contact me at gary@themilliondollarhomepage.comand provide the following info:

1. The original “Our Transaction ID”
2. X,Y Coordinates of the Block(s)
3. New website link and pixel image
4. New mouseover image (if any)

Each update will require a fee of $20. The fee is $20 for 1 or 100 changes as long as the request is made all at once for the same person. Fees are subject to change without prior notice.
